Dekalb County CEO Vernon Jones Vetoes Smoking Ban

Dekalb Ceo Vernon JonesI believe Dekalb is the only county that still allows smoking inside of resteraunts and bars.

“Sometimes our government goes too far,” Jones said, “and I think this is one of those cases.”

“It will put small businesses out of business,” he said.




Marta Providing service in the Cumberland Area

Good news to people who use Marta and live in the Cumberland area.

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority may soon be allowed to carry passengers to and from Cobb Community Transit’s Cumberland Mall station and the Cobb Galleria.

Under an agreement expected to gain approval in November, a one-year trial program will allow Cobb Community Transit and MARTA bus drivers to pick up passengers outside their jurisdictions in the Atlanta-Cobb Galleria corridor.

It only would be the second push into Cobb for MARTA buses, which now only cross the Chattahoochee River at Six Flags Over Georgia. Source

Bush Visits Georgia

Bush Visits GeorgiaPresident Bush on Tuesday spent a second day in a row campaigning in rural Georgia, targeting a shrinking slice of America where Republicans think he still can help their election cause.

Bush is spending the final days of the midterm campaign in small town venues, where White House officials hope he can inspire people to vote GOP next Tuesday.

He didn’t fill the arena at the Georgia National Fairgrounds — plenty of seats were empty in the back along with nearly half of the vast floor space. But those who came out for the Halloween night rally were enthusiastic, applauding his call for tax cuts and against gay marriage.

“We don’t want Washington Democrats running the House of Representatives,” Bush said from a stage decorated with hay bales, pumpkins and a billboard-size American flag.  Continue the Story

Just fresh after her divorce to Bobby Brown. It seems that Whitney is coming back on the scene.

“I feel great,”Houston was quoted as saying, while Davis, one of Saturday evening’s honorees, told People:”We’re going to make a killer album.”

Deaneglo Hall of Atlanta FalconsDeAngelo Hall will be facing Chad Johnson today and he states:

You don’t know how much stuff we blew in the Pittsburgh game, and you know me, I don’t like to look bad. I have been working all week. It’s going to be a battle. I mean a battle. says Hall

He is still embarrased about getting smoked by the slow footed one show wearing Hines Ward. He needs to step it up against Chad Johnson to bring back his crediblity.




Baby Found shot dead at Lawrenceville

The victim, identified as Lal Lucky Ko, 20, of Lawrenceville was found shot to death on the side of Oakland Road near Herrington Road, said Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. Read On




Braves Andruw Jones possibly traded

Is this just a rumor. Could this be the decision to turn the team back into playoff contention?

“The Braves were heavily involved in the Joey Gathright deal and still could get him from Kansas City. Yes, they need a leadoff hitter, but there is the possibility that they will explore dealing Andruw Jones at the end of the season.”  Hat Tip: MLB Rumors
