Whitney Houston Home goes up for sale

Whitney and bobbyGrammy-winning singer Whitney Houston’s Atlanta-area home is still up for sale after being advertised for foreclosure. Houston’s five-bedroom Alpharetta home had been advertised for sale earlier this fall, but the foreclosure was not carried out, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in a correction of a story published Friday. The earlier story said the house had been sold in a foreclosure sale.  Read On

Jermaine Dupri Leaves Virgin Records

Jermaine DupriJermaine Dupri confirmed Wednesday (October 25) that he has voluntarily resigned as president of Urban Music at Virgin Records. The producer and So So Def CEO reportedly left the label after poor promotional efforts of his girlfriend Janet Jackson’s latest album, 20 Y.O, which was executive produced by Dupri. Despite appearing on the cover of nearly every magazine and an appearance on Oprah, Jackson’s album sales fell below expectations following the commercial failure of her last album, Damita Jo. “Since there are so many rumors running rampant about my position at Virgin Records, I feel that it is necessary to set the record straight,” Dupri said via a statement. “I was not forced out of the company, I made a decision that it was in my best interest to leave.” ...




Rapper TI tops BET Nominations

Atlanta rapper T.I. has topped all other artists with eight nominations for the upcoming first-ever Black Entertainment Television Hip-Hop Awards.

The Georgia rapper, whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., was named as a competitor in ceremony-high eight categories Thursday including Hip-Hop MVP of the Year, Video of the Year, and Hip-Hop CD of the year, AllHipHop.com reported. read on

I first heard of this guy back when I lived in Dallas. When I moved back to Atlanta he started DJ’ing at V-103. It was great to listen to him again.  What I didn’t realize was that he was working for both K104 in dallas and V-103 in Atlanta. Check out his interesting sneaker show here.




Bill Cosby visits Atlanta students

ATLANTA Hundreds of Atlanta high school seniors were chastised and cheered today by comedian Bill Cosby and civil rights icon Joseph Lowery.

Cosby was a former high school dropout who went on to earn a doctoral degree and is now a staunch supporter of higher education. He was the keynote speaker at Lowery’s sixth annual lecture series on civic participation. The two men shared a stage at Frederick Douglass High School in northwest Atlanta, which hosted the event for Atlanta Public Schools seniors. read on




Andre 3000’s Cartoon show will premiere

The long-awaited animated television series co-executive produced by industry leading musician André “3000” Benjamin, has finally been granted a television premiere on its home network, the Cartoon Network. The story of a popular musician named Sunny Bridges who gives up the life of a superstar to teach children the wonders of music, the new animated television series Class of 3000 will be filled with audio interests and much more. Denzel and T.I. To Star In American Gangster

Atlanta rapper T.I. will be starring along side Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe in a new movie titled “American Gangster”. T.I. will be the nephew of Frank Lucas played by Denzel Washington whereas Russell Crowe plays Detective Richie Roberts. Rapper Common also plays a unknown role in the film.

The film is about a drug kingpin in the 1970’s who smuggles heroin into Harlem by hiding the stash inside the coffins of American soldiers returning from Vietnam.

“Right now I’m learning everything I can about my character. I’m just there to soak things up,” T.I. said in a statement. “There’s a bunch of Academy Award-winners on this cast and I’m just there to learn. I’m in school.”

The movie was written by Steven Zaillian and is directed by Ridley Scott and will be released in 2007.




Bobby can’t stay out of Jail

Being Bobby Brown ain’t easy these days. A family judge ordered the singer arrested if he steps foot in Massachusetts after Brown failed to show for a hearing Monday over delinquent child support payments.bobby.jpg

Brown’s attorney said it’s a “very difficult time” for Brown, 37, whose tumultuous marriage to Whitney Houston is coming to an end. She filed for a legal separation earlier this month.

“Whether or not he’s going through a divorce doesn’t negate the fact that he still owes child support relative to his two children that he had prior to his marriage,” said Norfolk Probate and Family Court Judge Paula Carey.

Kim Ward, of Stoughton, the mother of two of Brown’s children, says Brown owes two months’ support, or $11,000.

In June 2004, Brown was sentenced to 90 days in prison for missing three months of payments. That sentence was immediately suspended after Brown made back payments totaling about $15,000. Read More
