The imam of a northern Georgia mosque pleaded guilty to providing material support to the militant group Hamas in a case in which the agreement, charges and even the plea hearing were handled in secret.

Three bank robbers held bank employee’s family hostage on Thursday night Oct 12.

Three armed men Thursday evening held the family of a SunTrust Bank employee. The men also summoned and held another bank employee to the house. “They were held hostage throughout the night,” FBI spokesman Steve Emmett said.

 The robbers were not successful in getting into the vault, because the employee did not have the code. I guess the robbers kidnapped the wrong person. But they still got away with “Undisclosed amount of Cash” My guess is a couple of hundreds laying around.. The family is safe now but the robbers still got away.

Police found more than $3 million in cocaine hidden inside a commercial vehicle that was impounded after a routine traffic stop Thursday night.
Officers with the county’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit stopped the truck for a lane violation at around 11:30 p.m.

DeKalb County police shot and killed a suspect wanted in a slaying and carjacking early Tuesday _ the department’s 10th fatal shooting this year.

It happened as officers were pursuing two suspects wanted in connection with the killing of a man and a carjacking near Turner Field in southwest Atlanta about 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, DeKalb County Police spokesman Jason Gagnon said. read on

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP)—Gwinnett County police are investigating the suspicious death of an Idaho woman whose body was found in a van parked outside a Lawrenceville grocery store.

The body of 28-year-old Maria De Los Angeles Salcedo, of Blackfoot, Idaho, was discovered Thursday morning in the parking lot of a Kroger. Officials have been unable to find her family.

Police were called by shoppers who noticed a strong odor coming from the dark green minivan, which had been in the parking lot a few days. They found the the body lying on the passenger side of the van and wrapped completely in a sleeping bag.

Police spokesman Corporal Darren Moloney said an autopsy is being completed to determine a cause of death. Continue Reading »

Henry County jail officials are still trying to figure out how four inmates slipped out of the recreation yard Wednesday night, but speculate the quartet had outside help.

“I think someone may have come in the night before and cut the fence,” Lt. Scott Perry said Thursday morning. “It was a very small hole for them to climb through.”
